Har saal Bihar sarkar ka Samanya Prashasan Vibhag agle saal ki chhuttiyon ki list jaari karta hai. Yahan har saal ka calendar ek jagah hai — naya saal aate hi naya page judta hai.
List kab aur kaise aati hai?
The state cabinet usually approves the next year's holiday calendar in late September or early October. The General Administration Department then publishes it in the Bihar Gazette (Extraordinary), in Hindi, with four schedules: general holidays, optional holidays, public holidays under the NI Act, and the annual bank closing day.
Hindu festival dates in the list are fixed by tithi, Muslim festival dates by expected moon sighting, and anniversaries such as Bihar Diwas (22 March), Karpoori Thakur Jayanti (24 January) and Veer Kunwar Singh Jayanti (23 April) by the Gregorian date.
